Why Connect Ourselves to Personal Style?

First, it is already happening on some level.

You are already communicating to the world something with your style. What if you don't care? That shows, too. If your lack of care is showing up visually on you, in your clothing, accessories, and grooming (or lack thereof) those things may be not only repelling others but preventing you from living your best life. If this is not your intention, then you need to set a new intention. 

Second, when you connect yourself intentionally to your personal style you will feel more confident, which will positively affect your mood, energy, and day.

Our behaviors, our speech, and our style choices all reveal our values, preferences, opinions, and choices. Every day you have the opportunity to cultivate and communicate your authentic personal brand through your style. 

Third, it is only after we connect the inner to the outer person, that we have the power to reach others and connect to them through our style. 

Our style of expression is our visual communication that represents our inner desire to be open or closed to connecting with others. 

Your own Personal Style is about creating awareness, cultivating your identity, and expressing your authentic self, but it is also making a statement about how you desire to relate with others. 

Fashion Vs. Style

Fashion is marketing to sell someone else’s Brand.

Your Personal Style is your own Brand.

It's about self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-confidence. 

What about staying current and embracing trends?

Incorporate only those trends that speak your personal brand language. Make them work for you, not the other way around. I want you to feel empowered by your own sense of style first, and not powerless in succumbing to the fashion industry.

Style is a process, it will evolve with you. It should speak to who you are now, not who you were yesterday (unless it is a part that is unchanged and that is authentic). 

If you are gravitating toward the same pieces/colors/styles to "try" and capture something lost or a fantasy version of yourself, it may feel awkward and come across as trying too hard. But if you are drawn to similar things over time, you can still embrace those elements and showcase them in new and exciting ways. 

Visual Exercise

Think of yourself in a comfortable cocoon. You are safe to dream in this nurturing and safe environment. You are a beautiful creature with love in your heart, and open to new possibilities. When you are fully rested and ready to reveal yourself to the world you begin to gently and painlessly break free of your old skin, and eventually the cocoon. 

Your enthusiasm grows and you radiate with joy. On the outside, there are new friends to meet, new opportunities for adventure, and familiar places and faces that will behold your transformation. They will recognize you, but something will have changed. 

You seem more energetic, but less anxious. You will project an aura of ease and a new capacity for joy. Your new sense of style is a personal expression of yourself, so it is completely authentic and feels like an organic extension of your inner self. You are not a rose trying to be a daisy or a fern. You are not a windmill trying to be a wind tunnel. You are not trying to be anything. You are not hiding either, you are just showing up as yourself, and you feel wonderful. You are as beautiful as you were created to be, and nothing is lacking.

Style is your opportunity. Don't miss it!
