 What are you Resisting?

Let's play a game. Fill in the blank. Resistance is _______.

Did you answer "futile"? Thank you science-fiction! But, killer robots or cyborgs aside, is it really pointless or useless to resist?

Psychologists point out that the very resistance of a thing can actually make it stronger.

But, shouldn't we at least protest against those realities we want to change? Given the present world turmoil, that sounds absolutely exhausting. And who is right? Seriously is anyone of us 100% right about anything, let alone everything? Probably not a single human being, but we can look to God. Is that an appeal to authority? Absolutely. 

All things are possible with God.

From Matthew 18 we have instructions and principles to settle disputes between Christians. The end goal in correcting another believer should be restoration. Our method of communication should be sharing God's truth (not our own) in love. We are not responsible for another person's acceptance of God's truth, or their repentance, but we can pray for God to work in their lives.

Take the book of Micah. There is God's judgment against wicked leaders who exploit the people, but there is the hope that wicked people (even wicked leaders) would repent and be delivered. 

Resistance keeps us stuck. Sometimes the one we are resisting is in the mirror. The good news is that you also can repent of your own wickedness and be delivered. You can have a whole new identity, when you stop resisting God. Pray for God to work in your life daily, and be astonished.
